GRR 9th Sept 2017 | Saturday 9th September 2017
30th Great River Race Saturday 9th September 2017 It was always going to be difficult to match the GRR of 2016, where we had 4 boats and numerous family and friends to support us as for once the weekend did not clash with the Saundersfoot Tri and Iron Man.
2017 clashed again so we yoyo’d with numbers of members who were able to come …. after a great deal of persuasion, a little bribery and a call out to the ‘pirate...

Aberporth Sunday 9th July 2017 Well it has to be said I did not think a week before the race we would have more than just one mixed team, but with a little persuasion and encouragement (some would call it nagging!) we fielded a ladies team and men’s team and two mixed tea...

Towy Boathouse Challenge 24th June 2017 | Saturday 24th June 2017
Towy Boathouse Challenge 24th June 2017 A weird weekend, usually well supported by Wisemans but with a lot of people away we only had one boat going, a double late drop out meant a last minute call to other clubs to see if we could fill the boat, thankfully Jane and Dom from Aberaron were free, so we hitched up and headed off.
Our first obstacle, apart from the endless tourists who hav...

Llanion Sunday 11th June 2017 A grand total of sixteen rowers turned up at a very windy, and sometimes wet, Llanion League Race, a day that proved to be very successful for Wiseman’s Bridge Rowing Club, with the club winning seven raffle prizes on the day, the top prize being a box of chocolates, which was duly shared between club members.
Special thanks need to go to Nick and Andy who turned up and assisted with just coxi...

PYC Wreck Race Saturday 22nd April 2017
The weather was kind this year as the crews assembled for the fourth PYC Wreck Race, a 15.5km race around the wreck sites on the Cleddau, the sun was shinning, although there was a strong breeze from the north.
A challenging start to the race calendar, which this year saw only one boat from Wiseman’s, however what a boat it was, a mixed crew that contained the power of ...

Great River Race 3rd Sept 2016 | Saturday 3rd September 2016
Great London River Race 3rd September 2016 After much planning, prepping, washing of boats and covert fancy dress operations the morning came to set off for London. The journey up the M4 was uneventful although excitement was felt each time a rival club was overtaken with some of us hoping that we would be able to do the same on the water the next day.
The tow trucks made light work of the journey and after a quick stop in Chippenham for their annual "trucker...

Aberporth 17th July 2016 It was an early and misty start to the day as the Wisemans crews met at the compound to hitch up the boats and head north. Luckily by the time they arrived at Aberporth the sun was breaking through and the mist clearing.
The first race of the day was the ladies, where we entered two teams Bryony, Lois, Sian and Lucy (Llanion) coxed by Owian (Towey), and Libby, Gabi, Caroline and Di coxed by Mark. Of the two t...

Slight prerace concerns as our stroke was a little lost en route and also still quite under the weather with a nasty bout of tonsillitis, but once Brian arrived without her voice we were off.

Aberporth 16th August 2015 An unusually nice day for this season, but another early start in order to make our way up the all too familiar coast to Aberporth.

Since the turn of the year the weather has not lived up to last year’s promise, Wreck Race and Milford Marathon both cancelled due to bad weather, Castle to Castle and Return of the Cleddau both run in tough conditions. So with the 2015 season up and running so to speak the first league race was upon us and the weather continued to be an issue, by the time the towers hit the mist over the Preseli hills on route to Cardigan the wind had picked up considerably. Originally intended to be held on the 29th March but called off due to (very) high winds the PYC Wreck race had already developed a reputation for being tough thanks to the inaugural race in 2014. Conditions on the rescheduled day however could hardly have been better. The sea looked almost like glass which was very unusual for Gelliswick.
Thanks to the short notice of the new race date we were only able to field 1 ladies team and have our spare man (Jake) infiltrate the Llanion ranks. A fiel...
