7the June racing debrief
Jun 8th, 2026 at 6:57am

Yesterday 7th June saw the club members take the sculls on its shiny new trailer, gratefully towed by Tom and Tyenne, to Fishguard's offshore coastal race in Goodwick.
4Km course with 6 bouy turnes and conditions were challenging with strong offshore winds and a few drops of rain!! But that didn't stop us 😆 Although there were a few comments like "rowing against a brick wall" heard on a few occasions.
A composite crew of Wiseman's Bridge and Cardiff rowing club - Cox Caroline, rowers Tyenne, Alison Jade and Jo. Finished a respectable 3rd place against crews from Ireland and Wales.
Quick crew change.... Wiseman's Bridge mixed quad went straight back  to the start line. Tough cookies!! Cox Caroline, rowers Tyenne, Tom, Craig and Jade. The wind picked up and Jade the bow rower looked like she had gone for a swim 🤣 placing not yet confirmed!
Next up, our juniors bravely took to the challenging conditions. Life jackets done up tight and off they went. The course was brought into the bay slightly for the juniors and they Loved it!! Coaches Alison and Tyenne rowed alongside them trying to keep up 🤣 Hooter on the safety boat blasted three times and off they went. Ffion's first race saw her and Isla, 2nd race,  taking the double around the 2Km course. Josh's first race in a single saw him navigate the 5 tight buoy turns neck and neck with the girls. With speed and excellent technique in tough conditions saw the both Wiseman bridge junior crews cross the line in style taking first place for their age group 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great day had by all. Everyone representing the club with pride, showcasing our excellent team ethic and willingness to help other crews ☺️🤗
Looking forward to the Cleddau Marathon next weekend when The coxed four will take on the challenge from  Dale to Haverfordwest at 2.30pm.
Cox Caroline, stroke Jade, mid boat engine Tom and Tyenne and Alison in Bow taking on the view of this marvellous crew ☺️
