Inter Club Challenge
Sep 4th, 2021 at 12:39pm

Folks

The response for this challenge has been fantastic, therefore on discussion with other committee members it is being proposed that we try to run as many boats as possible on the weekend of 18th/19th September, can everyone please post their availability for that weekend, or if not available, then which club night would suit them best.

We would like to try and get three boats out at a time, and although the challenge will still be timed, the race element of rowing alongside another boat will assist rowers greatly, and make it more fun.

We will endeavour to make sure that we get all boats out before end of month.

Neil has sorted all boats out to ensure fairness across all crews, and he has stated that there should be no more than 17 seconds between all times submitted. (we inform people of their crew nearer the time and urine tests will need to be provided to ensure no cheating)

Well done Wisey's for your enthusiasm in this event

Cheers Rodders

                Inter Club Challenge

                Saturday 18th September 2021

All those that are able to make Saturday the 18th can we meet in the compound at 12.30pm. All three boats can be sorted and hopefully the first crews can set off on the challenge just after 1pm. The weather isn't looking too bad at present, just need to keep our fingers crossed.

Can those that have Strava, or similar, on their phones ensure that they have them with them, each boat will have to record their time that they complete the challenge. The distance is 5 miles, which is 8,800 yards, or 8,047 metres. The coxes must ensure that you reach this distance, if you go over we can adjust your time for the 5 miles.

Neil had sorted crews so that they they're all fairly even, and we will attempted to maintain them, however, with not everyone being able to make the Saturday, there will be some adjustment.

We will need people to volunteer to cox, this is to ensure that everyone gets a chance to row.

For those unable to make the Saturday we will run boats on club nights next week.

This is just a bit of fun Wisey's, but I'd hate to be in the boat that comes last Grin Grin Wink

Saturday 18th September 2021
                      Five Mile Challenge
These are the crews that will be going out first, hopefully setting off about 1pm
Boat 1. Delyth/Nick/Gareth/Rosie
Boat 2. Carl/Phil/Nalda/Daph
Boat 3. Elaine/Lois/Simon/Lyn
Coxes for these crews will be sorted on the day but will be from John/Marja/Rod/Brent/Caroline or Nigel
Can all of the above mentioned please be at the pound for 12.30pm to get boats sorted.
Second crews will
Boat 4. Marja/Jen/Gary/John
Boat 5. Di/Nina/Brent/Caroline
Boat 6. Rod/Nige/Jane plus someone we grab off the beach
Coxes will be Simon/Nick/Phil
For those on second boats that can't get there for 1pm, can I ask that you are there for about quarter to two.
Can anyone who has a watch or phone that has Strava, or similar app, on, please have with you for the recording of times for each boat. Although the boats will set off together, which will add that race element, it is a timed event, bit of fun.
I have checked and the Wisemans is open for drinks.
Anyone who is unable to make Saturday we will try to run a boat/boats this Thursday on club night
